A Registered Dietitian's holiday gift guide to share for your favorite foodie or home chef! Your kitchen will thank you!

It's that special time of year with so many holidays for all to celebrate! With that holiday joy may also come with holiday stress. Curious what a Registered Dietitian and/or food blogger puts on their wish list? Well then read on!

Bunny's Kitchen Favorites

If you or your gift recipient wants to explore more in the kitchen or is the perfect home chef that needs some new "toys" than kitchen gadgets are essential. Having more than the basics is not only more convenient in cooking, but it also makes the time more fun! Below are some of my kitchen and lifestyle staples (hint hint some are on my wish list!).

1. Instant Pot

The Instant Pot is not only a favorite, it is a must in our kitchen! Being a mom of two toddlers, time is valuable. This pressure cooker does everything for meals (sauté, steam, make yogurt, and even cook rice). "Simply set it and forget it", well sort of! I lately have been making chilis, soups, pasta dishes, and rice and beans! All in one pot! Bye bye cleanup!

For those that want to step it up a notch, try the instant pot with the air fryer! Interested in a crip dish like sweet potato fries or crispy Brussel sprouts? The air fryer cuts time and the grease! Instant pot owners you can get just the air fryer attachment lid sold separately as well.

Here are some asparagus fries that can be done in the air fryer!

2. Mini Cuisinart

I will say it again, as a mom of two I am short on time especially after a full day as a clinical dietitian. The mini cuisinart makes chopping and prepping so much easier. Raise your hand if you are sensitive cutting onions! The cuisinart makes the chopping or dicing size super consistent leading to even and thorough cooking! Did I mention the fun colors they come in? The bright red adds cheer in our house!

3.   Microplane

Yes a microplane or handheld grater is on the list! It might not seem the most exciting or appealing, but it is an absolute staple in my house. I use it on a daily basis! This tool can zest citrus, grate some tasty cheese (and even garlic, ginger or spices), and even shave chocolate! What's not to love?

4.  Nutribullet Blender

The Nutribullet is a newer addition to our home and it is staying! Smoothies are my son's favorite and this blender makes them easier to prepare. Besides smoothies, you can make sauces, dressings or marinades and even dips. All summer I used it for different pesto dishes. It is not as bulky as a regular blender and has a nice sleek look!

Yes even hummus can be made in the nutribullet!

5.  Aerogarden Hydroponic Garden

This is one of my favorite gifts I have ever given myself! If you are a gardener that wants to grow fresh herbs or vegetables during the winter season than this is your pick! Or if you , like many, live in an apartment with little or no garden space (or you just don't like to garden period), you can enjoy this beautiful hydroponic garden all year round! Another great perk, Aerogarden will replace any seed pods that don't grow. I have had great feedback over the years with their customer service team and are always so helpful.

This Chive and Walnut Pesto has been made in the mini cuisinart and can be used in so many ways. Freeze it for up to 6 months. The Aerogarden grew the herbs and leafy greens!

6.  Ottolenghi Flavor Cookbook
Here's another one on my wish list! It's not that new, but his cookbooks are timeless, elegant, and coffee table worthy! I have his Simple cookbook and am so impressed with the colorful images and ingredients used! This one includes plant based recipes and talks all about flavor!

7. Goodr Sunglasses

Okay, so these aren't for the kitchen! I wanted to add these because I get asked all the time where I got my running sunglasses. I wear these running errands even! They are super comfortable, unbreakable, and chic looking! Goodr has tons of different colors and fun styles, and for a great deal! Some are as low as $25! Enjoy!

8. Hoka Shoes
These are on my wish list! I love Hoka shoes for running and am in need of a new pair! They are pricey, but are extremely comfortable. I enjoy the endorphins and clearing my mind. Hoping to train for a race in Oregon this spring! I'm not fast at all, but just out there to push myself and smile at the same time!
So, that is a Dietitian's holiday gift guide sharing some of my must-haves and most wished for this year! I hope you all enjoy time with those you love this holiday season because that is truly what this time of year (and all year) is all about!
