Nutrition Consulting: Is it For You?

Published: Mar 7, 2022 · Modified: Mar 23, 2023 by Katie Pfeffer MS, RD · This post may contain affiliate links · Leave a Comment

Many ask us, what is Nutrition Consulting?

Simply put, it is working collaboratively with a Registered Dietitian to improve your relationship with food and nutrition, whether it be improving specific eating habits or managing certain symptoms such as gastrointestinal problems or low energy levels.  Registered Dietitians are here to help you achieve your health goals! For example, are you a fan of Cross Fit and want to gain more strength at the gym? Maybe working on protein intakes together can help! Have you had unintended weight loss due to an acute or chronic illness? Dietitians can also help on weight gain promotion!

What does private consulting look like?

Lucky for you, consulting can be done in your own home! As we have all seen during this pandemic, everything has become virtual. Telehealth services are available on your computer or smart device through patient-protected software.  Sessions can range from 30 minutes to 1 hour and I highly encourage recurring sessions to help build a successful client-dietitian relationship.

If you are in a rut with your health, overwhelmed by a chronic illness, or just curious about nutrition in general, then yes, nutrition consulting may benefit you! Registered Dietitians, especially those in the clinical setting have seen it all. From acutely ill patients requiring tube-feeding support to patients wanting to learn more about a vegetarian or plant-based lifestyle; whatever it is, registered dietitians in nutrition consulting are here for you!

Lastly, consulting does not provide the magical quick fix that so many in society are looking for. Registered Dietitians work with you on customizable and achievable goals. For example, improving your lipid profile or blood sugar levels versus excessive measures like intermittent fasting. Dietitians can build a healthy relationship with their clients in the long-term, which of course, diet pills and cleanses can’t do.

Nutrition consulting is much more than just weight loss! Working with a Registered Dietitian can help you achieve your personal goals as a lifestyle approach. We can prove that fad diets are not the solution and work with you in your health journey. Whether it is weight loss, managing a chronic illness, or just wanting to improve your eating habits, we are here for you!
